Karen Nielsen Licher's artwork evokes a sense of a transcendent reality, free of the dogma of conventional notions of the sacred.  Karen's work is informed by her connection with the substance and energy of the earth, as a means for metaphorical expressions relevant to the human condition.

Her installations in particular can be seen as an intention to contribute towards a re-sanctification of the landscape. Throughout her travels in the Southwest, Karen gathers various colors of earth and sand which are directly incorporated into her paintings and installations.
